Every performance is a school lesson

In the essay “Erasing the Audience” Blaž Lukan says that omniscient viewer does not need a theater. Only ignorant viewer comes in the theater over and over again because he has never and will never learn anything. In Via II. Gymnasium performances will take place in school classrooms, their sequence follows the logic of the school day. Every performer, like a teacher in front of his students, takes the “position of knowledge” and each viewer is placed in the role of “ignorant student.” Each performance is a lesson about the relationship between theory and practice, between idea and body, between word and flesh, between metaphor and real, between theory and antithesis …
