We vote against. We vote for the lesser of two evils. We vote for exclusion. Democracy as the “best possible political system” has acquired the status of dogma: elections have become the legitimation of the lesser evil, the individual is subordinated to the majority, public opinion is the new Darwinian paradigm of natural selection and the law of the strongest. We all dance the dance of compromise. We have learnt the democratic choreography and repeat it to the point of exhaustion. But the electoral body is increasingly fragile, stumbling, catching its breath, seeking a new equilibrium…
