Endurance of the voting body
The performance questions the role that all citizens play in a democratic system, the role of the voting body. We vote for what the system offers us to choose from. Even if you choose nothing, you have chosen. Representative democracy is an intelligent machine that grinds everything. The voting body is not there to express the will, but to maintain the system. We are wasting our own voting body on empty phrases and to the limit of our physical endurance.
The first performance took place on the day of the first round of the Slovenian presidential elections. The performance addresses the future President of the country: “Dear Mr President. We are not asking who you are. We are happy that you are what you are. President! You bring us together, you unite us, you make us come together. You are ours and we are yours. Your happy collective, your group, your voting body, your Via Negativa.”
