Mechanism of the mistake
Ops deals with the mechanism of a mistake, which works like a loop that chains together one and the same mistake – to correct the mistake. The “enlightened mind” is stuck in the court of Louis XIV and cynically condemns any attempt at a solution to failure in advance. The oops take place in a “dialogue” between the performer and the stage, communicating through projected text: “I have a problem with the lights. I know I have to turn them on. Sooner or later. But I’m afraid it will be a mistake”. Although the stage speaks from the position of the historical consciousness of the “critical mind” – aware of the historical cycle of mistakes in which it is caught, along with artists, producers, the public, the state, science, religion – it is completely powerless. It is condemned to the bodily presence of the performer. The dancer, trapped in the regime of representation, can only assert her meaning through corporeality. Both are limited by the other and both admit that they are always playing each other off against each other. Mistake is the only reason and the only meaning of their existence.
