The Brake

“Born to be a pussy, raised to be a pussy.”
(Rok Kravanja)
A rollerskating story in which freedom becomes an increasingly elusive illusion. “If I am what I think I am – a free being – then why am I still here where I am? Why don’t I pack up and go? Why do I always find enough reasons not to do something? Why do I always have my foot on the brake? I don’t know. That is how I was raised. Taught. Educated. Socialised. Equipped to be a socially useful being. Even though I’ve had enough of all that, I’m still here. I’m still cruising from institution to institution, convincing them that my brakes are working perfectly, that I’m a socially useful pussy. Even though I’m doing something as utterly useless as performance art. Do you understand? Born to be a pussy, raised to be a pussy.”
