Production of hype
La isla bonita is a cycle of five site-specific experiments that focus on the question of hype* and the different strategies for its production. In terms of content, La isla bonita is based on the constant challenges and pressures of (re)creating content and its potential for hype production. Through different strategies of situating club music in public non-performance spaces, La isla bonita explores the power and role of hype in the experience and appreciation of content, both in social networks and in the context of art. La isla bonita is a construct of a game that never ends. It is a game that is caught up in the constant production of content and the game of questions of expectations, vows, superstitions, rituals, sacrifices and (dis)utopias. *Hype refers to the expectations artificially created around a person or product whose advertising campaign and image have been built on an overestimation of their qualities.
