It all started with looking at the wall
The performance theatricalises envy as the most self-destructive relationship and as the dominant relationship between the performers we’re watching. The show ends with a game of knives, the point at which all that matters is blood. Not Like Me is based on a workshop organised by Zalet, Zadar.
“It all started with looking at the wall. Kristian wanted to invent something that nobody had invented before him. He wanted to bleed himself, but Franco B. already does that, he wanted to cut a star on his chest, but Marina Abramović already did that. While Kristian looked at the wall and struggled with the question of what he had to do to get into the books on the history of contemporary art, Boris was making up stories as if he didn’t care about everything that had been done before him and everyone who worked with him. Kristian couldn’t think of anything else but to shave his body and change into a woman. He knew that it was pointless, but he hoped that in the end something would come of it.” Kristian Al Droubi
