Performer as gallery exhibit
The Starting Point Anger is the first derivation of the Via Negativa research. It consists of six solo performances lasting between 12 and 17 minutes. The performances take place simultaneously and separately in different locations around the gallery. The performers present themselves as gallery exhibits with statements about the personal origins of anger. The performances are repeated six times. In the seventh and final repetition, the performers switch roles and perform as copies. The spectator can follow each performance from beginning to end and choose the order of viewing. Just as when viewing an exhibition, the viewer shapes the dramaturgy of the performance. The performance is set in the context of the current exhibition and takes place during the gallery’s opening hours. In this way, each performance has two audiences: those who come to see the exhibition and those who come to see the performance.
