Contract with the audience

Gregor gives the money back to the audience and proposes a new contract: “I know I could have earned more. We could all earn more. We deserve a better and bigger theatre. You deserve a comfortable seat and a good show. I deserve a little more audience, a little bigger stage and a little better lights than the ones that are shining down on me right now. I have been in this business long enough to know that it is not how much I think I deserve, but whether I can get what I deserve. I think the only contract an actor can make is with the audience. An actor who doesn’t trust his audience has nothing to do on stage. I hope you still have your wallets with you.”
