Eight performances in the logic of the school day
In his essay Erasing the Audience, Blaž Lukan says that the omniscient viewer has no need of theatre, because the viewer who comes to the theatre has never learned anything and never will learn anything. Via II. Gymnasium Maribor performances take place in the classrooms of the II. Gymnasium Maribor and stage the relationship between “knowing” and “not knowing”. Each performance is a lesson, their sequence follows the logic of the school day. Each performer, like a teacher in front of his/her students, occupies the place of knowledge in one way or another. The classroom puts the viewer in the role of the “ignorant pupil” and challenges him to take his position between the pretext – the context – the text, or simply to observe the relationship between theory and practice, between the idea and the body, between the word and the flesh, between the metaphor and the real, between the thesis and the antithesis…
