Transformation of a live performance into a museum document
The VN enters the MSU museum collection as a story in which it interacts with all of its thematic strands: the Project and Destiny, Art as Life, Art about Art, The Great Enigma of the World, Words and Pictures. In this context, we refer to MSU’s programmatic premise: “to initiate and demonstrate shifts in the presentation, communication and interpretation of MSU’s art collection”. In the context of the museum, performance functions as a process of creating and exhibiting an artefact – the performer literally leaves his or her authorial trace in the museum, documents it on video and re-displays it in the form of a video document. With the video installation of the Via MSU Zagreb collective presentation, the Via Nova performances became museum documents four days after their live performance.
