Marko Mandić

Actor, performer

Marko Mandić made his theatre debut in 1996 in the production The Indian Wants the Bronx . The following year he studied in New York at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and at the HB Studio with Uta Hagen, and after graduating from the AGRFT in 1998 he became a member of the SNG Drama Ljubljana. He has received numerous awards and prizes, including the Prešeren Fund Award, several Borštnik Awards and the European Shooting Star Award at the Berlin Film Festival. An important part of his work is his collaboration with directors Ivica Buljan and Bojan Jablanovec, as well as with the Via Negativa platform. For him, acting is above all an exploration of the unknown, which he brings to the audience in different poetics, as if from space expeditions, in his usually surplus acting creations. He also explores his expression as an actor in films, most recently in international (co)productions. The international stage has also opened up for him in the theatre, where he has worked with directors such as Evgeny Titov, Antú Romero Nunes and Jan Fabre.
