Uroš Kaurin

Actor, performer

He graduated from AGRFT in 2009 and received further training at the School for the New Dance Development in Amsterdam. In 2009 he joined the Slovenian Youth Theatre and since 2018 he has been working at the Maribor Puppet Theatre. He is also active in the independent performance scene (Moment, Via Negativa, Glej, En-Knap, Bunker, Maska…). Uroš is one of the three programme managers of Moment in Maribor, where he co-curates, co-produces, co-programmes his own productions, tours and festivals. In tandem with Vito Weis, he creates the long-running project Hero (Hero 1.0, Hero 2.0 – The Performance of All Performances, Hero 3.0 – More than Words). In 2010, he received the Young Actor Award at the Maribor Theatre Festival and, together with his colleagues, the Award for outstanding collective creation for performance Damned Be the Traitor of His Homeland!. He featured in the youth film hits Gremo mi po svoje 1 & 2. He has been working with Via Negativa since Out (2008). His entry into Out also implies the end of the performance – it happens “as if by chance”, Uroš does not come on stage, the stage expands to him. Uroš enjoys the slippery riskiness of this performative situation, the emptiness of the end is also the emptiness of a beginning, and all that can be said on this border is what Uroš keeps repeating in Out: “The end, the end, the end.”
